The rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has voiced apprehensions regarding the growing gap between the state’s populace and Governor Siminialayi Fubara’s administration.
In a statement, by the party’s publicity secretary, Darlington Nwauju, highlights the detrimental impact of the ongoing political turbulence on the effectiveness of governance.
The APC asserts that the political turmoil has led to a noticeable weakening of government policies, attributing this to the administration’s perceived inaction in the face of escalating poverty within the society.
“Rivers people cannot accept the excuse of political distractions for failing to work assiduously to reduce insecurity and unemployment and provide improved access to education, clean drinking water, and electricity,” the party stated.
“The shenanigans of political crises cannot be enough reason to abandon our people in the dungeon of poverty and cannot be an excuse.
“The governor must come up with a clear development agenda and an actionable plan of execution that can justify the hundreds of billions of naira the state gets in one year. On this note, we urge you [Gov Fubara] to get up, sit up, and get cracking.”
