The Gombe State Executive Council, led by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has granted approval to a comprehensive three-year Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF). The decision sets the stage for the submission of the framework to the State House of Assembly for further legislative consideration.
This significant step in financial planning was confirmed in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, the Director General of Press Affairs in Government House, Gombe. The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Salihu Baba Alkali, shared insights during a press briefing after the meeting. Alkali emphasized that the MTEF meticulously outlines the state’s expected income and expenditure, taking into account various factors in the microeconomic landscape.
The preparation of the MTEF, as highlighted by Alkali, involved a comprehensive assessment of international, national, regional, and state-level economic dynamics. The assumptions guiding the framework were crafted with precision, considering a range of revenue and expenditure parameters.
Coordinating the briefing, the Commissioner of Information and Culture, Mijinyawa Tilde, underscored the approval of the three-year MTEF as a testament to the state government’s dedication to prudent financial planning and responsible fiscal management.
