In a resounding victory, Usman Ododo, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), emerged triumphant in the recently concluded November 11 governorship election in Kogi State. The electorate spoke loud and clear, with Ododo securing an impressive 446,237 votes, showcasing widespread support for his candidacy.
His closest contender, Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party, trailed behind with 259,052 votes, while Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party garnered 46,362 votes. The electoral landscape echoed the people’s choice for continuity and progress under the APC leadership.
It’s worth noting that despite the victory, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to conduct fresh polls in specific polling units within the Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area of the state on November 18, 2023.
The Returning Officer for the Kogi State governorship election, Prof Johnson Urama disclosed this on Sunday evening.
“Ahmed Ododo of APC, having certified by the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” said Urama.
