The Minister of works Dave Umahi has made a declaration that henceforth only road technology would be used throughout the country.
Umahi made the declaration when he visited the cross-river governor Bassey Otu in Calabar on Friday.
Umahi explained that He was conducting a road tour around the Niger delta region following the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He said President Bola Tinubu has ordered implementation of reinforced concrete technology for all road constructions across the country, Particularly the Niger-Delta Region.
He expressed worry over the substandard and adulterated bitumen being dispense to the country by contractors.
“We are insisting that going forward, any contractors that do not have a sheep foot roller will not be awarded a road contract.
“We expect that when doing a road, you use sharp sand first after removing the mud up to a stable place, then you apply lumps and sharp sand again before you do stone base and allow vehicles on it for a duration to achieve good compaction” He said.
After the meeting The minister Along side Governor Otu went on a tour to one of the state concrete Road Projects.
Governor Otu commended Umahi For his doggedness in addressing issues related to dilapidated Roads in the states.
